What is Double Glazed Smart Glass?
Double glazed unit smart glass (DGU Smart Glass) combines switchable PDLC technology with a high-performance insulated glazing unit. Unlike standard laminated smart glass, DGU Smart Glass consists of multiple glass layers separated by an insulated spacer, creating improved thermal and acoustic performance while maintaining instant privacy control.
With electrical activation, the glass changes from an opaque state to a transparent state within seconds, giving users complete control over visibility, natural light and space functionality.

How Does DGU Smart Glass Work?
Double glazed smart glass combines the instant privacy of laminated smart glass with the enhanced performance of an insulated glazing unit (DGU). At its core is a PDLC film laminated between two layers of glass, providing the same switchable privacy as standard laminated smart switchable glass. This laminated panel is then combined with an insulated spacer and a toughened glass pane to create an insulated glazed unit.
In addition to on-demand privacy, the insulated DGU construction provides improved thermal insulation, enhanced acoustic performance, and greater energy efficiency, making it ideal for modern residential and commercial glazing.

Prices start from £750 per m² for our standard configuration, comprising 5mm + 5mm laminated smart glass (approximately 12mm overall thickness), a 12mm insulated spacer, and 6mm toughened glass.
As every project is different, the final price will depend on the glass dimensions, glazing specification, quantity, shape and any bespoke requirements. Power supplies, controls, delivery and installation are priced separately.
